SPRING REBUILD/REPAINT PLANS
Due to Napas inability to match paint, and their quality of paint to be sub par, coupled with Absolute Shines $1,713.00 worth of work that includes WalMart non-sandable primer, the front of my car needs to be repainted. There are also gouges in the fiberglass on my hood that are less then a 32th of an inch deep that "Cannot be repaired" according to "ASS" (what I will now be referring to them as.) said that need to be filled.
ASS told Napa my paint code is e8
Napa mixed paint for the code e10
My paint code is e4
--- yeah.
I am going to remove the front bumper, fenders, radiator, condenser, hood and while I have the engine out doing the Cobra swap, am going to strip both fenders, and the hood, and fix all the scratches and pits- whatever else there seems to be plaguing the parts. Also I am going to decide if I wanna keep the stock GT front bumper or if I wanna go with something different. I have been thinking about going with a "Cobra R" styled front bumper, as it will go nicely with my "Cobra R" rims and hood. It is quite a bit more aggressive, and should be a nice addition to the new feel of the 4v GT.
While everything is out (including the transmission that will be rebuilt at the same time) I am going to also strip the inner fenders, radiator core support, firewall, and tunnel. I am then either going to A) repaint or B) get dynomat heat and noise shielding and cover everything.
Places that are going to be high heat areas, such as the bottom sides of the floor where the new long tube headers will be will get both hi temp paint then a layer of the head shield.
When everything is going back together, I may also decide on new headlights and turn signals, however I am undecided about repainting the black hood stripe or not, or to leave it all red...
Ill post more as parts and time starts to come in!
